Kalki Koechlin is of French descent but lived her childhood in southern India. She pursued theater in London before moving to Bombay to launch her profession as an on-screen actor.
In 2009, she learned Hindi in the space of six months to secure her first on-screen part in Dev D by Anurag Kashyap.
Kalki Koechlin then went on to feature in the satire dramatizations Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara and Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani. These were top-netting Bollywood productions, and both earned her Best Supporting Actress awards at the Filmfare Awards. Koechlin co-wrote the screenplay for the wrongdoing spine chiller That Girl in Yellow Boots, in which she also assumed the lead part.
