Chakravarthi Rangarajan is an Indian economist and a former Member of Parliament and Ex-Governor of the Reserve Bank of India. Between 2005-14 he was Chairman of the Prime Minister’s Economic Advisory Council.
After obtaining his Honours Degree from Madras, Dr Rangarajan went to the University of Pennsylvania where he completed his PhD in Economics. He has taught at the Wharton School of Finance and Commerce and the Graduate School of Business Administration, New York University as well as Universities throughout India. He was for a time Fellow at the International Food Policy Research Institute in Washington.
Dr Chakravarthi Rangarajan is the co-author of many books on economics, finance and the Indian Economy, to name but a few of the subjects covered by his works. He is also a popular keynote speaker.
In January 2002 the President of India awarded Dr Chakravarthi Rangarajan the Padma Vibhushan Award.
